What is NExT Exam?
The NExT exam for MBBS shall be replacing the NEET-PG exam with the aim of standardising medical practises and education. This test will not only validate a medical aspirant’s knowledge and skills, with which the individual can look forward to practising in India, but it will also serve as the entrance exam that an individual needs to crack in order to pursue post-graduation and respective higher education in a medical field of interest.
Stages of NExT
The National Exit Test (NExT) consists of two segments: part 1 (theory examination) and part 2 (practical examination), along with viva voce (also known as oral examination). Both NExT Part 1 and Part 2 exams shall be held only once a year (both the regular and supplementary exams).
Pattern of Scoring in NExT
NExT Part 1 is an online examination with objective type questions (MCQs). Marks out of a maximum of 100, will be calculated for NExT Part 1. For NExT Part 2, it will only be a Pass or Fail status. 50% (or half of the maximum possible raw scores) is the minimum passing mark for NExT Part 1 as a whole, and also for each of the six subjects of NExT Part 1. In NExT Part 2, a student can pass only after demonstrating satisfactory skills and conduct. The score of NExT Part 1 will be valid for three years.
What will be evaluated in NExT Part 1?
In NExT Part 1, an aspirant’s proficiency and mastery over the concepts of medical sciences are evaluated, not only from theory perspective, but from the clinical application point of view as well. During the Part 1 exam, a student can expect questions depicting a wide variety of clinical scenarios.

As per NExT
Exam latest news, NExT will be implemented from September 2024
